The Long and Winding Weekend

Hello again! I hope you all had a lovely Valentine's Day/Single's Appreciation Day. Don't worry, we're still alive! I barely made it though, having been through a week-long battle with the flu. It wasn't even so much a battle as it was the flu just having its way with my immune system. In any case, we somehow managed to fall into the trap of not updating the blog, and for this I apologize. Luckily, the one good thing about not going abroad is that we get to stay here and celebrate President's Day by not going to school! A 3-day weekend is totally worth losing your friends to a foreign country. Here we go.

In terms of housing, it looks as though we (Room 427 and Dan) are leaning towards an apartment on Belmont right now. It's actually made up of 2 separate doubles, but the landlord is going to lock the door leading into the hallway between the two and give us the key, so in a sense it's like an adjoined hotel room. Each double has a kitchen, bathroom, 2 bedrooms (singles), and a living room. I think Dan posted some pictures of it up on Facebook, but I'm not sure. In any case, we just put down a deposit at the end of the week, so the wheels are in motion. 2 kitchens = 1/2 the time to cook food for our dinner parties that you'll all be invited to next year. Wahoo!

Now, I know that I served as a proxy for about 70-80% of the people who actually read this blog, so I'd just like to let you guys know that I got all your stuff in on time. And yes, my flu and I did indeed brave the cold and took the long, arduous walk from O'Hare down to ResLife to hand in all the necessary paperwork. My love knows no bounds, people. I also know that some abroaders have had trouble with ResLife and housing deposits. While they weren't able to confirm/deny if you had all actually paid your housing deposits, I'm sure that if you did, then you're golden. If not, I'm sure there'll be space in Martyr's for you guys.

I think that's about it. Sorry that this was more of an update of real-life happenings instead of a witty social commentary, but that's what Jake is for.

Oh! Speaking of which, Jake has started to wear jeans, so you guys are really missing out.

Keep on keepin' on,
Mai
